After an entire year (and some change) of living on the east coast and finding my niche, I've decided to finally start writing about it...and ya know all that other stuff that happens.
Being away from NM has it's perks. I no longer drive, what a blessing...however, mass transit here can put you anywhere between 15 min - 2.5 hours behind schedule. Or even an entire day, if you're lucky (or not lucky, I'll go w/ lucky because I missed an entire day of trabajo). Worst thing about being away from NM...food, friends, family, mountains, and dry heat. (tehehe)
Like most people, I moved because I wanted change, but mostly because I finally had the opportunity to be involved in the field that I love in our nation's capitol in the Capitol with my own district representative (not done yet!) with a group of some of the most amazing, hilarious, talented, smart, friendly, humans a girl could ever ask for and be blessed enough to call friends & family.
I spent the 1st 7 months of my adventure on the Hill as a personal assistant to the entire office; in other words an intern. I pretty much had the time of my life...from answering phone call from eccentric constituents to delivering congressional records & resolutions to the "Harry Potter" door of the cloak room and taking a selfie with Stephen Colbert and the infamous spirits party...it was the best way anyone could possibly start their career.
My minion adapted very well to this enormous life change. Her and I...it's been great. She has completed her 1st year of middle school, got a iPad (on the school's tab), attended her 1st NFL game, got a cell phone (ugh!), and continues to grow into a beautiful, smart, clever, charismatic, young woman. She is actually enjoying the sun in Mexico right now...without me; a travesty, I know! My family convinced me she should spend the entire summer home. Life without her is pretty dull and I sit at home and quote movies and LOL alone wishing she were here. September 5 couldn't come soon enough.
Well...I keep losing my train of thought. Tonight, right now, just so happens to be the last show ever of The Daily Show. It is quite hard for me to wrap my brain around not being able to see this silver fox every night on the telly. *tear* Who isn't emotional right now?!
Well...to be continued. Need shut eye.
